Quitnyst album and new Stazma Schlappy Patching 101 video

Posted by Eric Schlappi on

I'd like to share the album of the band I was playing in when I was living in Grenoble, France since we just finally released it. The band is called Quitnyst and the album is called Eff Ess Over Two. We performed four or five shows over the course of a year and a half or so.

The lineup was a three piece with me (Eric) on modular lead/noise (just two pods with a Three Body and several Boundary), Thom with an Arturia Minifreak playing bass/chords, and Karotz on drums. The description "Quitnyst is a kraut-aliased trio, which aims at exploring the boundaries in between chords-notes-pitches and noise" fits pretty well but doesn't fully describe how good the chemistry felt as well as the way it fulfilled a dream of mine to really be able to let loose on the synth with a live band. It's really a lot different than solo sets or studio recordings and carries through a lot of influence from seeing Lightning Bolt and other noise rock bands back when I lived in Brooklyn in the 00s. The other guys of course have their own influences maybe a bit more towards kraut rock and post-punk :)

We recorded this album in our practice space over the course of two days in January 2023 and I mixed it over the course of a couple months, our friend Lilli Nikolova did the album artwork and it was mastered by Clément Bastiat. It can be found on Bandcamp and physical tapes are available.

In other news Stazma has released a new Schlappy Patching video, this time getting back to basics with Schlappy Patching 101

I will also be at Machina Bristronica in a few weeks to show off a new module that should be available for purchase by then (it is one of the ones I showed at Superbooth this year) and also to present a talk about everyones favorite topic, distortion.
