Binary Workshop at Synth Library (and other updates)

Posted by Eric Schlappi on

Hi all, it's been a bit since I've updated, had my head down working on some big projects I may or may not have ready in time for Superbooth as well as at least one thing that will be ready. I am teaching a workshop at the Synth Library on March 22 about our binary system and logic patching in general. I will also be playing some shows in April, an afterparty for the Synth and Pedal fest on the 13th and a still TBA show planned for the 19th. Stazma has been continuing the Schlappy Patching series (which we...

Getting scientific with the Nibbler and clave rhythms

Posted by Eric Schlappi on

I stumbled across this Youtube videos on Modwiggler where creator Erik Hinton writes a program to figure out what settings on the Nibbler will generate specific Clave rhythms (referenced in the  Godfried T. Toussaint "Geometry of Musical Rhythm" book). In the second one he references "Blue Rondo A La Turk" by Dave Brubeck (which I am coincidentally trying to learn on piano these days). Hopefully he will keep going down this wormhole as I'm finding this fascinating, now I have some new patches to try!

BTFLD release!

Posted by Eric Schlappi on

Hello, The BTFLD is now available to purchase! It will be shipping from us early next week and should also be available from our retailers ASAP. BTFLD (Bit Fold) is a distortion, wavefolder, and four bit asynchronous analog to digital converter. The folding output at audio rate provides a hard sync like timbre in a unique sawtooth wavefolder circuit. The stepped output is a type of bit crushed effect and the square wave outputs provide different frequency multiplications or distortions. Rhythms can also be generated by putting envelopes or LFOs into the input and using the bit outputs as gates....
